As a freelance I have edited illustrated non-fiction projects for adults and children for many different publishers and packagers. Most recently I have worked for Pitkin Publishing, project editing several series and titles, including the Pitkin History of Britain series, Pitkin City guides, The World of Sherlock Holmes and Slavery to Freedom.

My skills as a writer feed into my skills as an editor, and vice versa.

Project manager skills:
• liaising with authors and in-house editors
• briefing illustrators, photographers and designers

Editing skills:
• commenting on book plans
• copy editing text
• copy fitting
• proof-reading
